Custom Dresses & Qipao Measurement

I want to order a Custom-Made dress, but I am in a tight schedule. Will you take rush orders?

Unfortunately, we do not take rush orders. If you are having a tight schedule, it’s recommended that you purchase a slightly large size dress, then bring it to the local tailor service for alterations.

What measurement do I need to take to order a custom made dress?

Please read the Custom Made page to learn about our Custom Tailoring Services. Then use the Custom-Made Order Form to submit your body measurements. If you have any more questions, feel free to Contact Us via email.

How many days in advance should I order before my wedding?

It depends on the style of the cheongsam you order. Normally you should give yourself a minimum of 30 days in advance, but we recommend getting your order in 45 days prior to the wedding date. This will leave a suitable amount of time if alterations or a remake is necessary. Some brand request at least 30 days to make the dress, plus the shipping and alterations, so it may take up to 60 days in total.

My body measurement is 90-70-94cm. What size of cheongsam I should purchase?

We will need you to provide us with the product page link to be able to help you since each cheongsam may have a different size chart. Also please provide your height with your body weight, so we can better assist you.

My bust size is Middle, but my hip size is X-Large. What dress size I should choose?

Our bodies are not created equal. Just remember that it’s always easier to downsize a dress than make it bigger.

To answer the question above, we suggest for you purchase the larger size, then take it to a local tailoring service for alterations, to trim down the bust and waist area as needed. It’s always easy to down size a dress than make it bigger. Or you can choose to custom make your dress.

My US size is 10 (or other numbers), what qipao size is suitable for me?

Unfortunately, there is no uniform standard size for Chinese cheongsam dress. Each factory or design house use their own pattern and size chart.

Our average styles are proportional to fit women 160cm to 170cm tall with shoes. All measurements in product size charts in ModernQipao.com are the actual clothing measurement. Specific measurements can be found on each item’s detail page. Cheongsam is a body hugging type of sheath dress. For the best fit, measure over the undergarments you’ll be wearing. And compare It with its product size charts to find your best fit.

Each cheongsam may have its own size chart because they are made by different providers. Please use the size chart of each product to compare it with your body measurement to find the suitable size for you.

What if the dress doesn’t fit? Can I return it?

Regular price standard size dress are returnable and refundable with its original condition. Please request a return or exchange within 7 days. We will do free alterations untill you are satisfy with your custom made cheongsam. However custom size dresses are NOT returnable or refundable.

*Average 2-4 fittings are required by any custom made tailor service before the garment is completed depending on the complexity of the designs. After the first fitting, it’s normal and reasonable to give 1-3cm room for the future alterations.
* If the size of the dress matches the body measurement you provided, but it doesn’t fit you, we offer to make the free alterations to trim down the dress for you (Customers are responsible for the shipping cost). However, the dress is not returnable, refundable or exchangeable.
* If the dress we made is smaller than the body measurement you provided for any future alterations, you can return the dress to request the full refund.

How do I know my payment goes through or not?

You should receive an automatic email notifications from both Paypal and us, when your payment go through. Or you can login to PayPal to check your payment transactions. Sometime it may have 10-30 mins delay for the transactions to show up.

How will I know if you’ve received my order?

After you finish the ordering process, you will receive an order number on the order confirmation email. You can also log into your PayPal account to view the transactions or visit page TRACK ORDER from our site to view your orders.

Is ordering online secure?

Yes. Since we use PayPal as our main payment, we will not store any credit card information. All of the information you provide during the ordering process is restricted to our staff.

What if the item(s) I order or want to order are out of stock?

We make an effort to keep a good up-to-date record of all the items listed on our site. Occasionally, some items may go out-of-stock. If you order the item(s) are out of stock, we will notify you within 48 hours with three options:

  • suggest you another similar item with our knowledge.
  • hold a back-order instead.
  • 100% PayPal cash refund.

Once we receive the item(s) you have sent back in the original condition, we will only replace the new item after receiveing the replacement shipping charge. All replacement items are not subjected to further exchange or refund, and it must be in the original condition.

How long does it take for me to receive the refund?

First, you can request for an exchange within 7 days after received the item(s) you order. We guarantee a no questions asked, hassle-free return in 15 days. We will issue the refund within 3 business days after receive the items with its original condition. However, if for any reason you don’t receive the notification, please contact us directly for any returning case for a quick refund.

How to make exchanges?

  • To exchange you order, Email us an exchange request with your order number within 7 days after received the order.
  • We will then process your return, reply you with an email within the returning address with 3 business days.
  • Return the item(s) with their original condition – unworn, unwashed, unaltered, undamaged, free of lint and hair and with original tags, etc. We can only accept returns that are in a resealable condition.
  • Email us the shipping carrier and tracking number you used.
  • We will ship the new items after receive the returning.

What is your returns and/or exchange address?

You item(s) will be returned to California, U.S.A. Please contact us with email, we will then give you further instructions on how to proceed the returned things.

What if the goods received are damaged?

All products are carefully wrapped to ensure a safe international delivery. In case the packages are damaged during shipment, please file your damage claims to the delivering carrier immediately. And if it’s our mistake, we will refund or exchange you with a new item(s). Please contact us within 7 days of receipt of damaged merchandise by you.

Why do you refund me?

We do our best to monitor inventory levels and keep our web site as current as possible, however, we receive multiple orders for hot selling items that are temporary out of stock or items become permanently unavailable before we are able to remove those products from our site. When that happens, we will refund you through PayPal.

Shipping & Delivery

How much does the shipping cost?

We charge flat shipping fee for all Standard and Express Shipping. Please visit the Shipping and Handling page to learn about the estimated delivery time and cost.

Where are the items shipped from?

We are an US based company. Some of the items are shipped from California, US; some are directly shipped from China and Shanghai to your shipping address.

Where do you ship the products to?

We ship to virtually all major countries and the countries can be reached by Chinese and US postal service. Most of our customers come from USA, Canada, UK, Sweden, France, Australia, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Singapore, etc. If you are not sure about whether or not we ship to where you locate, you are welcome to Contact Us with more questions.

How long will it take to deliver?

3-8 business day with the Express Shipping, 5-35 business days with the Standard Shipping, plus preparation days with domestic shipping in China. Additional 5-30days for Custom-Made and Made-to-Order cheongsam.

Can you ship to PO Boxes or APO/FPO military addresses?

Sorry, we do not ship to PX boxes or APO/FPO military addresses. You have to provide an physical address, either business or residential to be able to receive your package.

Can I change my shipping address?

Yes. Please Contact Us via email asap after placing the order.

Why does it takes several days to receive my tracking number?

The item(s) shipped from China have to be shipped from warehouses to a Shanghai office by Chinese domestic shipping carrier first. It may take 2-5 days. Then we will email you the tracking info when it’s ready for the international shipping.

Risk of Loss with Standard Shipping

All items purchased from RedChineseDress.com are made pursuant to a shipment contract. There is no additional insurance coverage from shipping carriers for the low cost standard shipping methods. Many local shipping carriers only respond for no more than 50 US dollars for lost items. This basically means that the risk of loss and title for such items pass to you upon our delivery to the carrier. So we recommend all customers with order of $100 or more to use the Express Shipping option.
